Last academic year, we welcomed two new faculty members to the CSAA-D Community, Drs. Marian Higgins and Georgianna Martin!
Dr. Marian Higgins joined the faculty in spring of 2017 to coordinate the Student Affairs Leadership Ed.D. program. She earned her Ph.D. from our very own College Student Affairs Administration program. She has worked in higher education for over 17 years, and brings expertise in the career development of college students, diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace, staff development and training, and supervision. Most recently, she was the Director of Career Development and Programs at the University of Georgia Career Center. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Dr. Georgianna Martin joined the faculty in the fall of 2016, coming from the University of Southern Mississippi where she served as Assistant Professor of Student Affairs Administration/Higher Education. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa under the direction of Dr. Deb Liddell. Previously, she was a student affairs practitioner in residence life and Greek life at Millsaps College and Creighton University, as well as serving on the faculty at Loyola University-Chicago. Her research interests include the social class identity and college experiences of low-income, first-generation students, the impact of college students’ out-of-class experiences on key learning outcomes (e.g., critical thinking, moral reasoning, intercultural effectiveness, need for cognition), college student social responsibility, and social/political activism.
